Tips & Tricks: Keeping Your Bags Beautiful

This week I'm working on a major Spring edit of my closets. Whether or not organization is on your Spring cleaning list it's always a good idea. Sometimes a little organization is all it takes to revamp a space at home making the space brighter and more inviting!
Closet organization is a daunting task for any stylish woman, but it doesn't have to be! Here are a few of my tips to make the process as pain free as possible.
  • The Handbags: Let's start with one of my favorite parts of the closet! I can't imagine ever getting rid of a bag so we'll skip to basic handbag care. Always, always keep bags you are not carrying often in it's dustcover! I've misplaced a few dust covers over the years and love these covers from MiaCotone.com. Keep larger handbags stuffed with white, unscented gift tissue as this will help keep it's shape. Never stack bags on top of each other. For smaller bags and clutches you can arrange them like books on a shelve to save space.
  • The Shoes: Another favorite. I always keep my shoes in boxes. I love Closet Fetish Couture Shoeboxes because there is a frame to slide Polaroid shots so you can see what's in the box! You can also try Ikea's Skubb Shoeboxes which are a steal at $9.99 for a 4 pack!
  • The Clothes: Empty everything from your closet into three piles: Keep, Maybe and Donate. Have a couple of trusted friends come over with a bottle of wine to help you sort through the 'Maybe' pile! A good rule of thumb, if you haven't worn it in a couple of seasons go ahead and donate it if it's in good condition.
  •  Color Coordination: Another trick is to organize by color. This is so helpful with bags, shoes and clothes! And it's an easy way to give your closet a whole new look!
